Walk Our Mountain in Winter – With Snowshoes On!

Snowshoeing is a winter activity that is growing in popularity and Mountain View Grand is an idyllic place to sample the fun.

In New Hampshire’s White Mountains, the snow cover usually blankets the ground from early December through early March, often later. Similar to Cross Country skiing in terms of effort and energy required, you can choose to go on flat or hilly terrain, go as fast or as slowly as you like, work up a sweat, or just take a comfortable walking pace. Snowshoeing offers a perfect way to see winter wildlife and to spot and follow their tracks in the deep snow. As you traverse the woods around Mountain View Grand you will be surrounded by the summits of 57 peaks, including the Northeast's highest peak, Mt. Washington. Bring along a backpack with warm cider, a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, and you have the makings for a day you will never forget. And, remember, snowshoeing is just as much fun at night as it is in the day. The quiet of the New Hampshire White Mountains is nearly as peaceful today as it was 100 years ago.

Mountain View Grand’s trails can accommodate all levels of expertise. Snowshoes are available for rent for just $12 for adults and $10 for children at the Club House, and guided snowshoe hikes are scheduled weekly.
